January 7th

A quick update. We are still in the Furneaux Group. We have been sitting out some nasty Westerlys in Kangaroo Bay on Clark Island with no phone service. Today we have moved to Preservation Island (just gorgeous) to wait on the tide. We are hoping to make Eddystone Point today. We have broken the pressure water pump and have decided we need some more power generation as the batteries are low. It’s been cloudy so the solar panels alone are not enough to keep both fridge and freezer running well. Crew in good spirits, captain cooking bacon!

What are you going to do about that pump? St. Helens perhaps? Go in at high tide in slack water. Sally took me into see Dawson today to get my taxi application fixed up. He discovered another little one in my right ear, operation in three weeks. All’s well here, making a rod case for my fly rods at the moment. Am attaching one of my old stories from the computer for you. Dad.

We are still at sea heading for Wineglass Bay. Eta 4am. Hamish picking up a pump in Hobart tomorrow and is going to Coles Bay on Wednesday. We will meet him there but no great problem it just means we have to hand pump cold water until then. Day 4 without a cigarette for me. Dolphins everywhere and motor running like a charm. I have been religiously wearing my zinc cream and hat so I don’t get any little ones! Ring you soon, Liz x
